Reflections in Recovery

 My name is Brian Henly Lordson. I’m in a Blessed state of recovery from CANCER, A TRIPLE BY-PASS, A STROKE, and a SPINE FUSION and the founder and director of MOTH, Menders of the Hearts Organization. My story brings a touching purpose to our projects and objectives. Through music and performance Arts “The MOTHS” concert project and performances will overwhelm this special community of people with hope and happiness.

In 1995, I found myself grieving over the loss of a very dear friend named Kim Whitmore. She was the longest living recipient of a heart and lung transplant performed at Emory Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia. Kim survived seven years after her 1st transplant, and it was our friendship that inspired me to write “The Mender of the Heart”, a song featured on my “Compassion” CD. Kim’s mother Diane, adopted me as a family member upon my moving to Atlanta several years ago. It was with them that I shared holidays, times of cheer, and Kim’s long days of pain as she waited on the donor list. It was during those times I realized that at some point in our lives we all need a “Mender of the Heart” to soothe and ease our pain during personal times of trial and tribulation. At the end of Kim’s life, I began to search within, hoping to understand why losing someone hurt so badly and deeply. I was abundantly blessed and moved by the spirit of God to compose my most poignant and powerful compositions scored to date, “The Mender of the Heart” and “We Live On Love”.

It is In God we trust!

I’ve been directed by the higher power, to bring glory to the “Mender” and other compositions of mine, by having them performed by a full orchestra consisting of musically talented kids and adults with health issues such as cancer, heart disease, diabetes, and other debilitating maladies both physical and mental. 

It is our hope that the orchestra would be represented by a sponsoring organization such as The American Cancer Society, The American Heart Association, or any other of the children-focused hospitals. All organizations willing to support this project are invited to participate. This project/concert will allow the participants to take part in a tremendous show of their talents that might otherwise be overlooked due to their personal health struggles.
